Life-Changing Teaching

Mountainview is committed to providing life-changing teaching that is drawn from the Bible. We believe that practical teaching is one of the keys to developing spiritual maturity.

Under New Management

January 5/6 – No Condemnation (Romans 8:1-4)

As a result of surrendering ourselves in faith to Jesus, our spiritual identity is now found in Christ himself. Being “in Christ” has tremendous ramifications for how we see ourselves and live our lives. God now sees us the same way he sees Jesus. This passage begins with a bold declaration: “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we can live without guilt or shame.

January 12/13 – Life in the Spirit (Romans 8:5-13)

Part of the transformation that comes to people who are “in Christ” is the active presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. This passage compares and contrasts life in the Spirit with life in the flesh – which is characterized by death and hostility towards God. When we live apart from the Spirit, it is impossible to please God because of our disobedience. To live in the Holy Spirit is to seek the things the Spirit desires.

January 19/20 – Led by the Spirit (Romans 8:14-17)

To live in the Spirit is to be led by the Spirit. One of the practical manifestations of being led by the Spirit is not living in fear. Instead, we have been adopted into God’s family with the full rights and privileges that come with being his sons and daughters. Being led by the Spirit also includes sharing in the sufferings of Jesus, since we are now co-heirs with Jesus of God’s inheritance.

January 26/27 – Helped in Our Weakness (Romans 8:26-27)

When we lived under old management (ourselves), we were entirely dependent on our own strengths and abilities to navigate life. Living under new management means that we now have the supernatural assistance of God to draw from. One of the ways this is experienced in through intercessory prayer – when the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf.
