Life-Changing Teaching

Mountainview is committed to providing life-changing teaching that is drawn from the Bible. We believe that practical teaching is one of the keys to developing spiritual maturity.

As we approach the holidays, our fears and anxieties often increase. The good news is, God has an answer to each and every one of our fears.

November 5-6: Fear of the Unknown

The fear of the unknown can be crippling. Many people live tentatively because they do not know what the future holds. But as believers in God, we do know who holds the future. Walking by faith is how the Christ-follower approaches the unknown.

Psalm 119:105 … 105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

November 12-13: Fear of Rejection

If you’ve ever felt the sting of rejection, you know it really hurts. It might have been the rejection of our parent or a spouse, perhaps getting laid off or fired. The fear of being rejected keeps us from fully engaging in healthy relationships. Because we might even fear being rejected by God, we might keep him at a distance.

Hebrews 4:14-16 … 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

November 19-20: Fear of God

What is the fear of God? There is a healthy fear and a harmful fear. The healthy fear of God holds a proper degree of respect and awe. The unhealthy fear of God is afraid of doing anything wrong; or worse, it creates the image of an angry God who is looking for a reason to destroy us.
