Life-Changing Teaching

Mountainview is committed to providing life-changing teaching that is drawn from the Bible. We believe that practical teaching is one of the keys to developing spiritual maturity.

Series Overview

Contrary to popular opinion, the Devil is not a cute character with horns and a pitchfork. The Bible refers to him as our enemy, adversary, and — perhaps most importantly — a liar. Jesus calls him “the father of lies.” In this series, we will debunk five of the Devil’s most common lies that many people actually believe.

January 2-3 – My Life Doesn’t Matter (Dan Hettinger)

Satan’s plan is to undo God’s work in and for you, by telling you, “Your life does NOT matter.” Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is
not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

January 9-10: I Can Never Be Good Enough for God (Ken Hensley)

On the surface, this is true: none of us can be good enough to earn God’s love. But below the surface is another message: Because of what you’ve done, God will never love you. Satan uses this lie to discourage and defeat people — Christian and non-Christian alike. God’s response is one word: grace.

January 16-17: Mountainview Just Wants Your Money (Ken Hensley)

One of the common objections to attending church is this — the church just wants your money. But that’s not true. More so, even God himself doesn’t want your money. He wants your heart, your love and devotion. Truth is, God doesn’t need our money but he desires a relationship with us.

January 23-24: It’s No Big Deal, It’s Just Sex (Ken Hensley)

Our culture tells us that any two consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want. We hear terms like “casual sex” and “hooking up.” Is there such a thing as casual sex outside of marriage? What is so “casual” about it? Does sexual activity outside of God’s boundaries really have no consequences?

January 30-31: My Faith is Private Matter (Ken Hensley)

This lie is dangerous. If the Devil is able to convince that our faith should only be a private matter, then we will be less to share it with others. We might even be tempted to cut ourselves from Christian community. The truth is, faith has very real — public — manifestations. Jesus himself said you will know a person by their fruit.
