Life-Changing Teaching

Mountainview is committed to providing life-changing teaching that is drawn from the Bible. We believe that practical teaching is one of the keys to developing spiritual maturity.

Series Overview

The world Jesus was born into didn’t have an abundance of good news for the common person. Life was hard. The good news is that God’s Christmas gift – Jesus – wants to make his home in our hearts. What does it mean to be at home with God? We are home in a relationship we can trust, and we have the promise of God’s presence no matter what. God longs for us to be at home with him.

Theme Passage: Isaiah 6:6-7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

December 5-6 – Coming Home to a Wonderful Counselor (Ken Hensley)

Many people struggle to find their way. Often we are inhibited from hearing the voice of God because of the noise that surrounds us. Through the gift of Christmas, God offers us the opportunity to be led by a Wonderful Counselor.

December 12-13 – Coming Home to a Mighty God (Ken Hensley)

While the baby in the manger didn’t appear to be a Mighty God, he certainly was – and still is. The miracle of Christmas wasn’t the first or last miracle God would perform. He is still a Mighty God who has the power to transform our lives today.

December 19-20 – Coming Home to an Everlasting Father (Ken Hensley)

The incarnation is a physical example of how much God wants to have a relationship with us. When we “come home for Christmas,” we are coming home to a Father who loves his children and wants what is best for them. No matter what we’ve done, we can always come back home to God (prodigal son).

December 24 – Coming Home to a Prince of Peace (Christmas Eve) (Ken Hensley)

None of us grew up in a perfect household. Even the best of parents had arguments, disagreements, and tensions. Peace is not the absence of conflict; it is the assurance that God is in control of all things. True, lasting peace – the kind that transcends all understanding – is only available from God.
